What is an Etched Stainless Steel Plate?
An etched stainless steel plate is a sheet that undergoes a chemical or electrochemical process to remove selected surface areas, creating precise, permanent patterns or textures. Unlike mechanical engraving, etching leaves no burrs or stress marks, resulting in clean, uniform designs.
Main Production Process
- Cleaning – The stainless steel sheet is thoroughly degreased and cleaned.
- Masking – A photoresist or protective film is applied and patterned using UV exposure.
- Etching – The sheet is immersed in an etchant (e.g., ferric chloride) which dissolves exposed areas.
- Stripping – The protective mask is removed, revealing the etched design.
- Finishing – Optional treatments: anti‑fingerprint coating, coloring, or brushing.
